Programming and Research

The Programming and Research Subcommittee will be responsible for the development of Wiley programs. Members on this subcommittee will be responsible for researching possible program topics and speakers, as well as identifying new topic ideas as they arise in the news. They will compile all information on potential topics and speakers. Once a topic has been chosen, they will work to secure selected speakers from around the nation.

Operations

Operations deals with the logistics of any Wiley program. In order to have a successful event, preparation must be made months before the program. The Operations subcommittee has the responsibility of acquiring accommodations for the speakers and special guests, planning the speaker's itinerary, making room arrangements, and completing any other operations related activity. In addition to participation in the committee as a whole, an individual on the Operations subcommittee is expected to participate heavily on the day of programs.

Marketing

Marketing serves to promote the identity and purpose of the lecture series, as well as to attract large audiences to our programs. The target audience ranges from the Texas A&M student body to surrounding communities and the greater Texas community. Numerous media outlets are employed to accomplish this goal, including the production and distribution of fliers, the acquisition of newspaper and magazine articles, local TV interviews, and speaking engagements in classes or at Aggie Moms Clubs, etc. Marketing will also deal with market research and surveys as they are conducted throughout the year.

Bush Liaison

In addition to ushering all George Bush Presidential Library Foundation programs on campus, it is a goal of this subcommittee to increase student participation in Bush Foundation programs by marketing their events to the student body, as well as to foster a more reciprocal relationship between Wiley, the Bush Foundation, and the MSC.

Development

This subcommittee secures all committee funding for the year at hand, while fostering relationships with former students. Through correspondence and office visits, we maintain all contributor relations. Personal contact with contributors, grant writing, and attaining corporate gifts are the main goals of this year's team. The relationships you will make with the contributors provide valuable skills and contacts in the business world.

Finance

The Finance subcommittee is a new addition this year. With each passing year, our endowment becomes less able to finance the Lecture Series due to inflation and increasing speaker costs. Therefore, the committee has become increasingly more reliant on development and ticket prices. One day soon we will not be able to raise the necessary funds, and we cannot wait until then to work to increase the endowment and secure corporate sponsorship for main program. This subcommittee, therefore, will research and begin the processes necessary to increase our endowment so we are able to continue the same quality of programming while concurrently alleviating the burden on the Development team.

Student Development

Students who assist in student development are responsible for production of retreats and socials, and also carry out certain administrative duties for the committee. This subcommittee shall also be responsible for the maintenance of the cube, as well as educating committee members on appropriate dress and etiquette at Wiley events.
